The place had changed a little since we were last there (we think about thirty-five years ago), but we were pleasantly surprised to find they still served sticky mugs of spicy mulled wine, albeit a much sweeter version and at a greatly increased price than I remembered! We had a good meal and enjoyed the company of our friends and family members.
Instead of making a card for the occasion, I repurposed a little loo roll journal that I had made a few years ago, using glycerine to "age" the rolls. (I think everyone on YouTube made a similar item, back in the day). It did not work in it's original state as the loo rolls, made in a spiral, simply twisted themselves on the bias and nothing I could do would flatten them. I liked the cover, and as I had spent some time leathering up the loo rolls, just put it away in my think-about-it box until such time as I worked out what to do with it.
I removed the loo rolls, made plain black cardstock pocket pages to replace them, added black cardstock tabs with cream documentation panels and used the stained and embossed loo rolls to make pull tabs for each of the inserts. After tidying up the edges just a little and regluing the corners of the book cloth spine which had become just a little dog-eared, the repurposed keepsake journal was completed. Everyone at the dinner added a message to a page of the little journal, during the evening we snapped a couple of films of Instax photographs and I simply adhered them into the journal pages with double sided tape and inserted the completed message tags into the appropriate page...a nice memento of a fun night out. I videoed the repurposing, if you are interested...watch here or on YouTube
Well, better trot, things to do...
Bye now,
Di
