Sarah, Karina and Brad came for supper during the week...potato and leek soup, roast lamb and lots of veggies made up the meal.
Sarah made one of her yummo trifles to bring with her to contribute to the meal (she was bought up nicely, wasn't she!). I wanted to get her bowl returned to her asap in case she needs to make another trifle anytime soon, (one never knows ones luck, after all), and she had refused to take the sad left-overs home with her, so not only did we have to wash up the bowl, but also we had to eat up the scraps next day...sigh.
Anyhow, rather than sending the bowl back empty, I wanted to finish the couple of pairs of socks I have been making for them...the crochet afgan has been neglected the past two nights while I finished these off...
There are a couple of other lovely yarn stores here in Hobart, but although they both stock delicious sock weight yarns, they are also tres expensive. As we all wear these socks as slippers about the house, sadly they don't justify the platinum prices of the higher quality yarns...
On another issue, I have just received an email from the University of Tasmania to indicate that my application for enrollment in the Place, Image, Object unit within the Faculty of Arts, the Diploma of Family History department has been accepted. This is a short unit designed to assist in the interpretation, contextualisation and documentation of family history. I applied for this unit after discovering that another unit I was interested in was not available...hopefully it will come online again shortly. Meanwhile, I will enjoy this unit as it looks tres interesting...anything that helps writing the story in an interesting way (rather than my usual dry and boring presentation), will be useful! Not sure when the course commences, but will need to get online and find out as.the new semester is due to start soon...The great thing about these courses is the access one has to the Ancestory.com library...a fabulous resource.
I also finished off a shaker card for a first birthday that I made ages ago...making the box envelope and adding a little embellishment to it. I have kept this one soft and gentle and gender non-specific, while (I hope) also non-traditional...I have a bit of a thing about tiddlers who are old beyond their years. I like a baby to be age-appropriate...they grow up so quickly. To miss those precious few months of babyish innocence is such a loss to their parents, many of whom simply don't know what they are missing. Putting them in aged denim and Converse high tops at two months, to me, is rushing things a bit...there will come a time to put away childish things, after all.
Just as soon as I have created the .pdf for crafters without a cutting machine, I will post them here on the website under the freebie tab. Completing the beta testing to ensure the files are robust, that everything is perfectly sized to ensure a good outcome for anyone using the file is important...I think I may have to convene a lengthy techies meeting to check the final product before allowing it to go "live"...;)
Well, sitting here, editing photographs and fiddling about on my website is just not getting the rest of the work for the day completed, so I am offski...
Catch you later,
Di xx
