I was very lucky to come across the project just as 2017 was beginning, so I have a full year of animal inchies completed with this weeks entry.
I was a tad puzzled about "Goat"...why had the animal had been chosen for this end of the year entry. I had the idea that maybe the Chinese Zodiac calendar had goat as it's 2018 pin-up, but no, that animal is dog...so I decided, as I didn't really have an image to work on, to use the astrological symbol for Capricorn and an image from Greek mythology as my image for this last little entry...
Chris made his first Christmas pudding (in the slow cooker which was a great success and a method we will be using many times again)...and Tim barbecued a leg of lamb to absolute perfection...I really think it was one of his very best efforts (just between us, he can sometimes be a tad erratic with his cooking times and temperatures).
Tim had dug some of his pink eye potatoes early in the day so I made a potato salad and we had a small bowl of steamed small ones with butter...this is a traditional Christmas time treat here in Tasmania, as true pink eyes, if your gardening skills are good, arrive on the table just in time for Christmas, as do new peas and raspberries.
I had made brandy sauce and whipped cream for the pudding, a broad bean and cherry tomato salad (new recipe, delicious!), a mixed salad of lettuce, avocado, cherry tomatoes, mince tarts, some chocolates etc...all together we had a lovely meal and a good family get together.
We have also spoken to more remote family and friends throughout the day, as well.
Chris and I had worked hard to keep the kitchen straight during the day, and here we are mid evening, all is sorted and tidied and I have time to write this post. It has been a really good day.
Sarah is on a break from work during the next week or so, due to all the public holidays, so I am looking forward to more fun (and the using up of leftovers), during the next or so...
I hope you have had as happy a day as I have had,
Di
