.
When we visited them recently she was all set up for Christmas with a very pretty tree loaded with blue and silver decorations, really ahead of the game. I don't like to put up my Christmas decorations, such as they are, before just a week away from the big day. We were discussing her tree when she told me she really wanted an all white tree as she thought they were very elegant....my mind went immediately to an all white card for her. Not quite the same but...
She makes beautiful cards herself and loves to really layer them up, paper tole fashion, so I made her card multi layered using the Scotch low profile foam tape, as well as some much deeper sticky dots, to vary things up and create some interest. To my mind the overall effect looks a tad bridal...but none the worse for that.
The internal message pages are a pretty soft blue with the message silver foiled, and I made a matching blue envelope.
I needed some cutesy cards to send to the grandsters, and after a bit of a rummage I pulled out the Oh Purrfect Day Penny Black stamp set and made several while I was at it. It gave me a chance to combine several sentiment stamps with the different images, for a change in the look of the card. These will be brilliant for the young chaps, and I know a couple of older cat lovers who will be pleased with one as well. Seems I will be sending out more cards than usual this year. Australia Post will be pleased!
The image I used on this next card, the cat with the hunched shoulders and sulky mien, from the same stamp set, always amuses me. The couple of chaps I know who really don't "do" Christmas with much grace will both be receiving one.
I coloured the cats with my Derwent ColourSoft pencils and a little gamsol...here is the one I will send to the husband of the friend receiving the white card...I knew he would rather be left out of that one!
As I had all the bits and pieces required, except for the large gift bags sacrificed for the covers, I thought I would make one. The project tutorial, as always, was a breeze to follow.
Well, we are on day 4 today and I have found the process easy to complete and quite fun really.
Initially I had intended the December Daily for my daughter as I thought she would like it, but I messed up the covers a little and so kept it to use myself. (at the end I added a second layer to the outside covers and as I could not remove what I had so carefully previously applied. The thick plasticy gift bag panels just look a little wonky on the second layer, I can live with it and I certainly learned about covering something like this, with three panels).
I am involving those also in the house to participate both in the recording of events, and we are taking a photograph each day to add to the front of each file page. I think it will be fun to look back on...
Bye now,
Di
