Having said that, I decided when thinking how to interpret this inchie that I shouldn't let my personal dislike influence the image but I did have to think for a while about what I could emphasis. What IS nice about a fly?
The thing I decided to focus on regarding the fly and a lot of other insects, was the iridescence of their wings, thorax, eyes and abdomens.
Some time ago I purchased a couple of containers of iridescent paint, violet and a green, on special at Spotlight. I haven't used them much so I decided to try and use them today. I printed out a basic image of a fly and dabbed away with a very fine brush, trialing different layers of the paint on the image to get the effect I wanted...green on the thorax and abdomen and violet on the wings, over the top of the dry green. I used a gold metallic pen to gild up the eyes.
I was very pleased with the effect of these paints...here is the result...click on this link to check out how all the other participants have interpreted the challenge...
Excuse my moaning about nice weather, but I just need half an hour is all! Very exasperating!
I searched all over in order to find the lovely and very useful set "French Foliage" a couple of years ago, so I know how nice it is to find a set one has been hankering for...but French Foliage won't be listed!
All I need to do now is wait for a decent cloud to get the images uploaded! Wish me luck!
Bye,
