On to the inchie for this week...Crab. I knew I had a lovely little stamp in an old Annabelle Stamps set but when I pulled it out it was just a smidgen over-sized...however, after consideration I decided to go ahead and use it. He is a very plump, cheerful looking little crab and so I thought it would be ok...I'm sure if he had bunched up just a little the sizing would have been perfect.
My father once caught a rather small Tasmanian giant crab ( Pseudocarcinus gigus) in one of his craypots...it seemed very large to me at the time, small as I was but I remember the shell as being only about 30 - 35 cm across...these crabs can grow to a massive 46 cm, and weigh up to 17.5 kgs!
I cut out an inch square of sandpaper to sit him on...quite witty, that, I thought! I then added the crab with some tiny scraps of dimensional foam and coated him with Glossy Accents for a bit of shine and used a couple of tiny drops of Nuvo Crystal Drops to emphasise the eyes.
As a finishing touch I added a tiny shell from my box of tiny beach finds. I have given up collecting larger shells now but can't resist any perfect tiny ones I come across on a beach walk...and the crab is done. He is catty-wonked on the inchie to minimise the overhang...
I think that is about it for this Monday...don't forget to click on this link to check out the rest of the crab inchies over at Every Inchie Monday...
Bye for now,
