BTW...the linky tool has disappeared form the EIM site, so no other inchies can be seen at the moment until the issue is sorted out...
The pencil is much more forgiving than the fine liners...obviously pencil lines can be simply erased when they go astray and don't look quite as "mistake-y" when they are doubled or overlapped...this is probably all justification and me mumbling through my purple hand spun beanie, but that is how I see it.
I had a piece of water coloured water colour paper on my desk and decided I would use that as the background. It hadn't worked to my satisfaction as a background and I needed to get it out of my sight...I can't afford to "waste" good paper like this and I have also noticed that a larger ugly piece often can be broken down into quite appealing smaller segments. Also, once I picked up the pencil I got on quite quickly. (I had had quite some practice by this time too, you see ;)
Getting the little image to flow and still be recognisable is the biggest hurdle for me, but after a few tries, I decided I was happy enough with this one to use it for the inchie. It still looks sketchy and you can see the eraser marks...but I quite like the look of authenticity it gives the image.
I grew up eating venison on occasion...Dad was a keen occasional hunter and gatherer from the bush and the sea and as mum was a good cook I have nothing but fond memories. They are very appealing animals but I am not sentimental about them. While endemic animals are often seen around populated and rural areas in this State, it is not very often that you see deer in the wild here, unless you are a bush walker.
Farmers do not always fare so well in some areas when it comes to deer as it seems the population has acclimatised particularly well, and with fewer guns and hunters around in the general public (thank goodness on so many levels!), culling is often required as well as the huge infrastructure costs associated with deer proof fencing etc. to keep the animals away from crops. There is some deer farming also, around the State.
I couldn't resist taking some photographs as we crossed the Bridgewater causeway...the river was beautifully calm...
Well, that's it for this Monday,
Bye now,
