The MIM #160 challenge at PTI has got me keen to try the embossing/stamping/cutting trick, so I decided to use my rather overworked Annabelle set, Designer Flowers, to see how it answered. It worked a treat. I need a few mor4e birthday cards in my stash so the sentiment was just right. I used the larger flowers to start with but I put them aside for another project, as they rather overwhelmed this card. I then used the smaller flower centres to create the embellishments for this card, along with a few leaves. This is my second entry for the April Challenge sketch. This card is for a friend overseas, I kid myself that the little blossoms are a bit wattle like, and the colouring. I had placed a strip of carte postal sepia washi down the right hand side, but disliked it and took it off. Good old washi! Easy to switch about, or move, but I hardly ever use it. I find that the ends can curl after a little time unless they are anchored at the back. I replaced the sepia washi carte postal tape with this thinner, neat little black diamond number... The text on the cart postal washi wasn't really visible enough to be effective, unfortunately, although the colour was good. Thanks for dropping by, Di,

The April Challenge at Annabelle Stamps is a lovely sketch. As I haven't taken part for a few months I thought I'd better get trotting on this one, as I don't usually use sketches. However, with my newish resolve to plan my layouts better, I think using sketches may just help me with that necessary discipline...that's my theory, anyway. I used both the Designer Flower and BBD5 stamp sets for these cards, and some little artichoke sprinkles...The distress inks on this card was left as it was, on the second card it was very lightly and finely misted with water to intensify the colour and left to dry overnight before starting to assemble the card. This one is more of a masculine card, it's easy enough to to do a muted pretty or floral card, but I find it much more difficult to make those more sober cards for a stand-alone male friend...this one looks quite bright, but it's a dull overcast day here and the artificial lighting has brightened it up a tad in the photograph...it's a dull mossy green, in reality. I used gold embossing on the side detail and around the oval. The black is a very fine leather cording which I bought at a leather supply shop in Hobart which has all sorts of interesting cords and threads tucked away behind the counter... I am trying to remain focussed on interpreting the sketch...However, this afternoon has been very distracting as I am also trying to switch over to my proper domain name from this free Weebly site, so I cannot achieve much with the website at present...I will do the products lists later when I can use the site more freely...I hope it's a technician beavering away in the backend and causing all the error messages and not a Gremlin! Fingies crossed...
Addit: 30 seconds later! Yay, It's done! It must have been a proper techie and he actually completed the changeover right away. I had been informed that it might take 24 - 48 hours. Things being what they are often are in even the best of all possible IT worlds, I was half expecting a much lengthier delay...Thanks to the wonderful Chris also, once again the boy came good with my IT issues...redirecting the DNS so it can all connect. If this comment should ever be read by any of my other children, yes, yes, I know, he's the favourite and gets all the kudos...I've heard it all before...just remember that you are all four wonderful in your own ways and very dearly loved: he was just the one here and at the time I needed one of you...:) Having gotten that bit of perennial family politics out of the way... thanks for visiting, Di |
